Usability is one of the most important determinants for the success of an e-commerce site. The first law of e-commerce states: “if the customer cannot find the product, the customer cannot buy the product.” This is the very main thing that a website has to do it has to be useful to the shoppers because sometimes there are first time buyers and it has to be simple for them if your website isnt easily understandable no one will be able to find the product they need so they cant buy it. All things that come into usability like navigation and how good something stands out on a page are all obsticles that the costumer has to over come so that they can buy the product so the more experience the costumer is the easier it is but, if you open your market to newer shoppers making the website simple to use many people who are new to computers and the internet will try online shopping and refer family members and friends to the website as long as the costumer is satisfied with the website and service avaliabled you have fulfilled your aims. The costumer will be more willing to buy a product if you make the process easy and quick.

"The Web as a whole is empowering, because consumers have the power to click over to the competition at the slightest whim. Why then do websites so often leave people feeling powerless?" customers need to feel free to do and go wherever they want they need choice of different ways to get to pages so that they can find some way that is best for them its all about the customer experience because if the customer isnt happy they wont be willing to buy your product."One of the oldest guidelines for usable interaction design is to increase the users’ sense of control and freedom. It feels good to be in control. It feels bad to be dominated by a machine. There are a few exceptions to this rule, such as operations that happen only once and when it may be better to abandon responsibility and let the system take over. The wizard used to install Microsoft Office is a great example of an oppressive interface that is probably acceptable to most Office users."

"If shoppers want to compare similar items in a store, they can usually view the items side by side." The bad thing about this is not many websites have the comparison feature.
