database exam prep

October 12, 2010 by Daniella   Comments (0)

I think I've done pretty well with the entity relationship diagrams and for the most part importing into access because of the work we've done previously but I need more practice with finding mistakes in the data and changing them. I'm okay with validation rules and input masks but need to make sure I can use more complex ones like using drop down lists and need to remember to include validation text.

5 second pitch

June 23, 2010 by Taylor   Comments (0)

" Religion and science is a long standing debate within modern philosophy, it has posed an empecable challenge for AS students, to aid their understanding i am going to design an animated programme"

- It was good to be honest i thought it was going to get rejected and i didnt stutter! all good:)

- i learnt that sometimes the well thought out plans aren't always the best...as i'd only come up with mine the night before

- I think at the moment weaknesses for me are timings...some to make sure im not waffling is a good thing to improve on also ..just making sure that i'm saying aspects in a clear and understandable manner that can be acceptable

- Ideas for the 30 second pitch will be more....refined i'll have more of an idea of what i want to use within it and why and what will definately be essential for it to work ..also  ideas of how i want to it look but also explaining again how it works

My strategy

April 22, 2010 by Taylor   Comments (0)

It's not really much of a strategy ...just realising with all the places are that need to be visited by the mini buses and looking at the distance in minutes that it takes to get to these places and working out which is the quickest route to go on with only the buses you need but if there is various places that need to be visited then using all 4 mini buses will be essential ....as for the timings you can work this out from how long it takes to get from each place to another pick up...and then starting a couple of hours earier to ensure that you're there on time but not too early or too late..Especially if the some of the buses are travelling to the outer clubs to get the players because other buses may be only doing a few trips that are closest to Crawley so they may both want to arrive at a relevant time that isn't hours apart.

Strategy

April 22, 2010 by Daniella   Comments (0)

1. Mark out on the map where the buses have to stop and the number of players to pick up
2. Split the map up into the 4 parts (like this)

3. Adjust the map sections so it doesn't cover places where you don't have to pick anyone up
4. For each bus route make the first stop the furtherest away and work inwards to Crawley
5. Using the spreadsheet model check whether routes work
6. Trial and error to get routes working
7. Adjust depature times so the buses don't leave too early (because of age groups) but get to Crawley before 12:00

chemistry mock thingy

I did teribly bad in my mock exam, as i lost lots of mistakes, some of them are silly mistakes, which shows that i did not check my work properly. Although i did lots of revision, i still made lots of mistakes, plus i did not do enough revision for the lessons that i missed. I find that the calculation questions are the one im struggling at as well as the ones that require long answers because i run out of what to write fairly quickly. Moreover, i did not read the questions properly so i missed out some minor details that are important. In some questions i missed out some details in my questions and that i did not learn my equations properly so that was my own fault. The topic of polymer waste is one of my biggest weakness, therefore i believe that more work is required from me.

At home i did lots of revision like making notes, answering questions, and using flash cards; i also came to science surgery a few times for some help. I think that kindda panicked in my exam, therefore my timing was terrible as i re-read some questions that i was struggling with.

Overall, i was very disappointed with my grade as it was lower than what i want; so in order to prepare for my real exams im going to do lots of revision and im going to analise my work after every lessons. Also im going to try and come to science surgery more often and I'm going to try and catch up on the lessons i missed.

Mock exam

i am quite disappointed with my result, i know i can do so much better, i did revise but the topics that came up on mock were areas that i am still not comfortable with. i think more revision was needed, particularly in the calculations, i struggle to recognise what the question wanted you to work out. overall i made a lot of stupid mistakes, so i think in the future i should check more.

after each chemistry lesson i do go back and look at my work at home, and copy the work up into my folder.

Chemistry Mock

Although I got my MAG grade I think I could have done a lot better considering that I did a lot of revision by answering questions from the text book and past papers the week before the exam. I mainly lost marks by not reading the question carefully enough and simple mistakes like not giving the full name of methods for producing ethanol and getting arrows the wrong way. I think I need to focus my revision on more difficult calculations involving volume and concentrations, as well as going over notes for alcohols and polymers.

On the other hand, my answers for longer questions and definitions improved ^___^

CRM

January 5, 2010 by Daniella   Comments (0)

CRM is used by businesses to improve marketing and sales, especially with existing customers. It works by analysing previous data to find key information and trends such as high selling products, location of customers and dates of orders which then allows the company to target certain areas whether by customer email or physical advertising.

  • Which county has the lowest rate of sales? ( Therefore meaning more advertising is needed)
  • Which is the least popular product? (Could be replaced)
  • Which item type is the most popular? (Information on what items should be replaced with)
  • Which item/ item type is most popular each month? (Example in September skates but December skis. Useful for discount sales)
  • Which customer ordered a certain item type? (Making emails more tailored to the customer)
