Online Shopping

“Estimates of abandoned shopping carts on e-commerce sites ranged from 65% to 80% in year 2000.” (http://www.redhillmoodle.org.uk/file.php/17/NNg_ecommerce_usability_study.pdf)

I like this quote because it is realistic. It shows poeple how often people abandon their attempt to shop online for one reason or another, this suggests that there is room for improvement on all online shopping sites. Personally ive abandoned my shopping basket many times, simply because i got irritated with the services, or decided i didnt want what i had chosen afterall.

"The 14% lower success rates for European users occurred even though we recruited only test users who could read English. If we had tested people with lesser English-language skills, the results would have been abysmal."

Personally ive never had a problem understanding the language used by the sites i browse because the majority of them are English, however once i had to search on google for a converter because the prices were given in dollars. But i expect that for those who dont speak english, shopping online on british sites that do not have an adaptable language feature would be near impossible.
